Not Wearing Seat Belt: Must be Illegal

In my opinion, to drop the incidence of car accident mortality, not wearing seat belts in every seat needs to become illegal. There are several reasons to support my opinion. First of all, the most effective way to minimize the risk and ensure the safety is wearing seat-belts. According to Korea Expressway Corporation, those who don’t wear seat belts have three times higher chance of being killed than those who wear seat belts in a car accident. Every seat in the car has seat-belts and that is the only way to prevent the accident for passengers personally. Secondly, people don’t consider seat belt crucially because it is not illegal. Most of the passengers answered to the question asking why not wearing seat belt that it is uncomfortable and unused to it. This means that people don’t take account of the importance of wearing seat belt as there is no one enforcing sanctions. For that, making strict law for wearing seat belt will give passengers strong awareness how much seat belt is important. Lastly, when not wearing seat belt become illegal, people will consider more deeply about how to wear seat belt properly. According to Dr. Koo, a surgery department doctor in Yonsai Severance, incorrect way of wearing seat belt can cause serious injure such as enterorrhexis or break in rib. For that, enforcing passengers to wear seat belt will make them consider more about the correct way of wearing it. Also, not only preventing the accident, correct way of wearing seat belt also makes driver to stay in a correct posture while driving. In brief, considering safety and perception, making not wearing a seat belt illegal is compulsory for every road in the entire world.

Blog Post #5

Production and Ownership of Knowledge

By attending English Writing2 in this semester, I have earned a lot of knowledge and got aware of knowledge ownership. In the class, we posted several paragraphs on our own blogs and comments to other student’s postings. In this process, I was able to increase the ability of writing and how to feedback each other to become better. Also, not only the posting, other assignments such as class review or in-class projects that we did in a group, these also helped me in producing the knowledge. When I was preparing class review, I had to think how I can make other students understand properly and give them as much information as I can. This made me improve the ability of conveying the knowledge to others and I bet that this was one thing that Professor Gary wanted to teach us. In addition, in-class projects helped us to produce knowledge. In-class projects were about sources, a/an/the, titles and more. These are very important in writing so as we think about this more deeply and by comparing it with other student, we were able to get feedback and earn other’s writing skills. In class, Professor Gary especially emphasized the importance of citation and this is related to the knowledge ownership. As we post our writing on the blog, we usually bring outside sources to make our writing more reliable. Bringing outside sources gives me more knowledge and it reminds me the owner of the information so that I get to understand the concept of using citation. In brief, as I went through the semester, the experiences that I had in this class eventually affected me in producing the knowledge and in learning the concept of knowledge ownership which led my wrting to become in a high quality.

2 Part Question

1) What has the comments others have posted on my blog taught me about my own writing?

I have received several comments from many different Gary's class students, and from that, I learned some useful things in writing. The most useful thing about getting comments is that I can notice my error and fix it so that I can write much better paragraph. Also, not only the grammar errors, they give me advice how to write more plentiful writing. This makes me to think more deeply about how I can add more details. Students who wrote comments on my blog were so kind and taught me with details, it helped me to get willing to learn and improve my writing skills. In brief, comments on my blog from other students gave me good influence in writing.

2) What have the comments I have posted on other blogs taught me about writing?

Commenting other student's blog is very thoughtful thing to do. From that, I have learned many things. As I write comments on other's blog, I try to be very helpful for their writing. This makes me to think more deeply in grammar, and remind me with proper grammar which I can check whether it's correct. When I keep doing it, I feel like I learn even more by that. Also, by reading other's writing to write a comment, I can learn many writing skills and I use them to write better writing later on which is very useful. Therefore, writing comments on other blogs helps me to learn more in grammar and makes my writing more plentiful.

                               Efficacy of Drinking Water

Water has been known as very important element for our body to become healthy in several reasons. First of all, water has excellent detoxifying qualities. When water goes through our body, it excretes harmful oxygen and waste matter from the body. This is also related to the skin so when you drink a lot of water, you can have smooth skin due to the detoxifying effect. Secondly, drinking a lot of water helps in diet. Drinking water makes you feel satiety and satisfied so that you get to eat less than you expected. Also, water helps metabolism and this burns up calories which eventually helps to loose weight. Lastly, water assists in deep sleep. According to Korea Medical Foundation, body uses water during the sleep so when your body is lack of water, the blood density goes high which interrupts the sleep. By that, they recommend to drink 1/2 cup of water before going to bed to get a deep sleep. In short, the formula of  'water = health' is now a common sense.

The Most Ideal Place For Me to Concentrate

The most ideal place for me to concentrate well has to be widely open, not too quiet, and well fit in temperature. First of all, when you enter the room, it has to be wide-open which has big window on one side of the wall so that sun can stream into the room. The table on the other side of the wall has to be big enough so that I can study comfortably with a lot of books. Also, the room should have a bit of noise. The noise doesn't mean loud voices or something that bothers your ear. I'm meaning the sounds of jazz music and whispering voices. I can't concentrate well if it's too quiet so this helps me to get focused. Lastly, the temperature of the room has to be suitable. If the room is too warm, I fall asleep easily and if the room is too cold, I only concern about the fact that I'm cold. The most ideal temperature for me to concentrate is bit chilly but not cold with fresh air. In summary, thr perfect place for me to focus needs to be widely open, not too quiet and well fit in temperature.

How does where I live (have lived) influence how I live?

I have lived in Gongduck for four years and this influenced me in three ways. First, Gongduck is very convenient in using the transportation. There are four subway lines going through so the accessibility to other cities is good and also direct line to the airport shortens the time when I go to the airport, which influenced me to use transportaion more than using a car. Secondly, there are a lot of  restaurants and cafes nearby. Many companies and offices are concentrated in Gongduck so most types of food reataurants are located near my house which means I don't have to go out far to eat. Lastly, there is a park in front of my house so that I can do exercise easily. It takes 1 hour to walk around the park so it makes me healthy and also my dog healthy because I exercise with my dog. To summarize, convenient transportation, many restaurants nearby, and the park beside my house influenced how I live today.
